A shipment is more than a freight move. It is a chain of documents, customs decisions, packaging choices, insurance terms, and storage windows that all have to line up. Most forwarders hand off the supporting work to brokers, packers, insurers, and warehouses. We keep it in-house. The advantage is continuity: when the customs question or the consolidation question comes up, the team that quoted your shipment is already in the conversation.

When the customs question and the warehousing question and the insurance question are answered by three different vendors, somebody has to translate between them. That somebody should not be you.

How customs clearance works at Icon
Global customs is a moving target - rules, valuations, and compliance requirements change across countries and over time. Our customs team monitors local and international regulations on the lanes we serve, and we update our processes when something shifts. Most importantly, our customs experts are part of the same team that quoted your shipment, so the classification and the freight booking are not in different worldviews.
You provide the standard documentation: packing slip, bill of lading, commercial invoice, and any taxes or duties. We handle the rest, including additional fees on restricted goods and the back-and-forth with customs authorities.
Insurance, on terms that fit your cargo
Subject to agreement, our insurance offers protection from physical loss or damage at origin, in transit, and at destination. Coverage can be all-risk or named-perils depending on your shipment profile and the lane. In the case of unforeseen events, we work the recovery and the documentation alongside you, so you are not navigating the claim alone.
If you are scoping a shipment and not sure which value-added services apply, that is exactly the conversation we want to have. Describe what is moving and we will tell you what fits.
